Story

FROM PLANTING in 2021, to the releaSE of our debut wine. Our story is just beginning

Planted in 2021 in the glorious Vale of Glamorgan, St Hilary Vineyard's hectare of gently sloping vines is an exciting vineyard project a mile from Cowbridge, at Glebe Farm, St Hilary.

Operated on low intervention, organic principles, with three varieties planted: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, we established our vines on premium farmland between an apple orchard, and a picturesque wildflower meadow.

Our aim is to produce delicious, artisan Welsh wines reflective of place - the vineyard and all of the surroundings characteristics which make it special - producing both still and also luxury traditional method sparkling.

And the dream is fast becoming realised, working with the immeasurably experienced and talented team at Mountain People Wine in Tintern, St Hilary Vineyard wines are now available.

St Hilary Vineyard’s debut wine was a 2023 vintage Rosé, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier blend, of which every sip tells a story of dedication to craft and the extraordinary terroir of Wales.

Also from the 2023 harvest - a traditional method sparkling white wine was made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Appropriately, St Hilary Sparkling White Wine will be released on St David’s Day, March 1st, 2026 reflecting its provenance and integrity - grown in Wales, made in Wales.

The harvests of 2024 and 2025 are currently in the masterful hands of Mountain People Wine and will become traditional method sparkling wines.

OUR TEAM

Peter Loch Owner

A retired pharmacist with over three decades service to the community through a small chain of family owned pharmacies. Now, alongside wife Liz he's embarked on a new journey as a vineyard owner and vintner, creating exquisite Welsh still and sparkling wines that reflect his passion for quality. Liz Loch Owner

After a long and successful career in the Gas Industry, Liz escaped to the country to further her interests in self-sufficiency. This started with growing organic fruit and veg, and uniting this with another passion - wine - this has now jumped up several notches with their planting of a vineyard and orchard. Not to be outdone, Liz has also achieved her WSET Level 2 Award in Wines with Distinction.
